CISCO MEREL

PANAMA (1981)

He starts his career in the world of art through graffiti, and street art culture. Later on, he decided to study photography and painting in the Ganexa University of Fine Arts. During his college years he begins to work in art direction and animation for advertising projects. This experience consolidates his interest in art and focuses in his own art productions.

In Cisco Merel’s work, these influences are combined together with local references to define his aesthetic and perceptual universe, where he explores a vocabulary of forms inspired by typography and geometry, and a precise and systematic color code. Cisco uses these iconographies to compose images and spaces in multiple media such as painting, sculpture, non-traditional materials and installation, as well as projects in public space.
